"Moncler has a strong heritage but still embraces change”

Moncler collaborated with eight different designers to re-interpret the classic puffer. Each took a completely different approach, from a puffer evening gown to Craig Green's sleeping bag jumpsuit.

The collection is colourful and playful, bringing a sense of nostalgia with block colours and protruding shapes. Focus on non-binary aesthetic, using archive JW pieces, creating pure and architectural designs.

This sense of playfulness and nostalgia is something I'll be trying to look at when designing for this project.

This collection also heavily features accessories (big floppy hats, umbrellas, boots and scarfs) as part of the design. This is something I'm looking to incorporate in my designs, as well as playing with depth and structure.

Craig Green's interpretation of the puffer is designed to weather the elements, a sort of armour. The jackets can be rolled up into a sleeping bag, they resemble tents or kites, drawing in the exploration, adventure side that we’re looking at in our collaboration.

He worked with micro rip-stop nylon, a super-lightweight yet extremely sturdy fabric, he focused on concepts of transparency, security and protection, devising boldly practical forms.

“I have always explored ideas of protection and functionality within my work, something that is also at the core of Moncler’s heritage."- Craig Green

I'm interested in the combination of technical function and amazing structural aesthetics in this collection.

Working with a muddy palette of neutrals mixed with black, and using organic fabrics treated to become technical, he built a line-up of padded and non-padded outerwear that plays with ideas of matte and shiny. Implementing recycled nylon and manipulation techniques, he even goes as far as using a dust coating embellished by Swarovski on a statement jacket. Looks are layered, with signature hardware and hi-impact accessories such as rubber boots. “Working with Moncler means a lot of technology, applied to luxury garments that are meant to be wearable.

Rocha's label is known for offering feminine, ethereal looks, embraced Moncler's outdoors ethos through her designs, taking inspiration from the image of a girl guide and choosing to construct an indoor forest-scape within which to stage her looks. She explained she interested in the idea of "a uniform for nature."

This collection is a combination of performance and functionality with fashionable boldness. The result is a selection of pieces that while meant to be used for skiing because of their constructive solutions and fabric technology, are also visually stunning and meant for life beyond the skiing slopes. This season the look is layered, colorful, pliable and multipurpose. It features overalls, duvets, bombers, anoraks and jumpers.

This draws into the skiing/explorer element of what we're looking at as a group.
